We have a fun tour planned for 2008. Registration will begin at 2:00 PM. Check in at the hotel is 3:00 PM. The hotel is the Comfort Inn Evansville East, 8331 E. Walnut St., Evansville, In. 47715. Phone (812-476-3600) Fax(812-476-3648) Email(gm.156@choicehotels.com). Rooms are $72.00 plus tax. Cut off date for reservations is July 1, 2008. No refunds for cancellations received after July 9, 2008. The rooms are non-smoking. If you want a smoking room you will have to tell the clerk when making reservations. The hotel will have a breakfast buffet each morning. We have a hospitality room each evening.
The opening banquet will be at 6:30 Wednesday evening at The Bauerhaus in Darmstadt. (A very small town)
Thursday morning we will travel to Newburg to visit a private collection of antique vehicles. The noon meal will be at The Log Inn in Warrenton. (Another small town) It was a stagecoach stop. The restaurant is built around the old log building. It was a stagecoach stop that President Lincoln visited. Thursday afternoon we will tour the LST WWII battleship. It is like the ships built in Evansville. Thursday evening will be a free evening.
Friday morning we will have a walking tour of New Harmony. (Carts will be available for $20.00. If you want to reserve a cart call George Titzer 812-963-5211 before the tour. The tour organizers need to know how many to have available.) New Harmony owns and maintains more then 40 historic properties throughout the town. The noon meal will be served by a local church. There is a Roofless Church, labyrinths, art galleries, and antique shops to visit in the afternoon. Friday evening will attend the cruise-in on Main Street in down town Evansville. There is a very nice park at the end of Main Street along the river. (Please bring your chairs for the cruise-in.)
